The Insubordinate Lads are a new luggage company born of British craftwork meeting American manufacturing. Founded by husband and wife design team Matthew and Rissy Woods, the idea was to bring Matthew’s family pedigree in leatherwork and update it to the 21st Century — fusing British craftsmanship into bags all made in New York City. Their new bag is called The Ellsworth and comes in two versions: the Ellsworth General and the Ellsworth Captain. The General is crafted from USA-tanned harness leather with camouflage printed cotton webbing straps. The Captain is crafted from Antique Elite waxed beeswax cotton by the celebrated British textile maker Millerain, and is combined with camouflage lambskin leather trim in navy, burgundy and olive. Both bags are beautifully designed, and can easily be distinguished from the general flotsam of cheaper Chinese-made carriers flooding the market. The Ellsworth can be purchased for either $575 for the General or $450 for the Captain directly from the Lads. Surely more goodness coming from the Insubordinate Lads crew in the coming year…
